1) Yang-concentration by willpower

2) Yin -concentration by absorbtion

Concentration by absorption: (aka ” Merge Consciousness”)

Is the art of becoming one with whatever you are doing or observing. When we practice this type of concentration we lose our “sense of self” that sense that we are a separate entity from what we are observing or experiencing.

In Martial arts practice this type of concentration means practicing a movement or technique until we are at the point of effortlessness or empty mind ( Mushin) in it’s excecution:  Am I drawing the sword or has the sword drawn itself ? When you cannot tell for sure you are in that zone.
