My Clinical Practice

I believe that my role as a Therapist is to act as a facilitator, helping the Client’s inherent healing process. To do this effectively requires good palpation, assessment and therapeutic skills of course. But what turns any profession from just being a collection of techniques into an art is melding the technical skills with intuition and therapeutic knowledge.
In the Healing Arts the Human body speaks to us in the language of it’s structures, functions and bio-energy fields. This tells the Therapist a story; as to what may be causing the problem(s) and what avenue may be the most effective in finding and alleviating blockages. Intuition informs knowledge what is relevant, knowledge gives the tools to do something about it.

Because of my Osteopathic training: My treatment style is non invasive in nature and typically begins with a thorough initial assessment.
Paying attention to clues such as:
Palpable asymmetries in the body, restrictions or alterations in normal joint motions and/or tissue texture changes and areas with pain or other sensory changes. That said, in actual fact is that assessment and treatment are reciprocal though out the entire therapy session.

How many sessions will I need to see results?
Some problems such as excessive muscle tension, pains and strains from overdoing things can respond in a treatment or two. More complex conditions such as tendonitis’ for example may take 3 to 5 treatments on average. Other conditions such as those from injury, trauma or long standing chronic conditions may need a more prolonged approach.
I do my utmost to help Clients improve in the least amount of time with the fewest visits possible. For more difficult conditions I recommend initially trying a series of three treatments with me, this may give you a gauge as to how well my treatment approach will work for you.

What Conditions Do I treat
Neck/Back/Shoulder Pain and Injuries
Joint Pain
Tension and Migraine Headaches
Muscle Injuries and Tension
Tendonitis
Bursitis
Carpal Tunnel, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome and various other nerve compression syndromes
Repetitive Strain Injuries
Sciatica
Plantar Fasciitis and Heel Spurs
Whiplash
Sprains /Strains
* Stress Related aches and pains
* Fibromyalgia
* TMJ disfunction and Pain
These three conditions are often are multi factorial and chronic in nature. What this means is that they are the end result of  many seemingly diverse factors.  Because of their chronic and painful nature these conditions often have a strong emotional component intertwined with the physical symptoms.
This makes it challenging to treat them effectively and often the best results are obtained by combining several different therapeutic approaches.  For example:  Cranial Sacral Therapy together with Guided Imagery can help the Client relax at a very deep level thereby facilitating a more positive therapeutic result in the body as a whole.
